Iconoscope

Iconoscope is a compact gadget for Win 7/Vista that helps you organize your link collection by presenting it as a panel of icons.

Install Iconoscope, then drag and drop the URLs of your favorite websites from the browser's address line to the gadget. You can also add a website by highlighting the URL in any text editor and dragging and dropping it to the gadget.

Iconoscope functions under a subscription system. Upon the initial installation, the gadget will be filled with the default icons from our database. You can remove the unnecessary ones and add your own. As you continue using Iconoscope, your collection will become more and more customized to reflect your tastes and needs.

My own icons

This function is only available if you have IE8 and up installed.

There can be several reasoning for wishing the replace a certain website's icon with your own one:
    - There are many sites that have not identified themselves with an icon yet.
    - Perhaps their icon does not look attractive to you.
    - You would like to create several links to different pages of the same website and need separate icons to distinguish them.
    - You wouldn't like others to see which sites you have favorited.
    - Iconoscope has been unable to present the site's icon correctly.

If any of the above applies to you, you can improve the situation with the following:
1. Create your own icon as a graphic file sized 16 by 16 pixels and save it as an *.ico, *.png, *.gif, *.jpg, or *.bmp file. To create an icon, you can use any graphic editor or copy it directly from your computer screen using special software. For the latter case, we highly recommend GetPoint software.
2. Send your icon to our server using this form:

Tips

For Vista users

We strongly recommend that you upgrade your Internet Explorer to IE8 version. Only in this case will you be able to load your own icons.

For Opera users

Opera, a browser popular in some countries, does not support icon dragging and dropping. To add a link, copy the site's URL and paste it into the field that opens upon a click on a plus sign in the gadget's top right corner.

Some icons appear as empty squares

Go to gadget's Settings, choose the line in the list, click "Modify", then click the green arrow. (Iconoscope version should be 1.5.0.0 and up; IE version must be 8 and up).

How can I click on the icons if the gadget is covered with windows?

The key combination Win+G moves all the gadgets to the foreground.

How can I see the prompts when I point on an icon with my mouse?

Make the gadget "active"; to do so, click on its title.

All the icons have become just empty squares :(

Double-check your Internet connection and click "Refresh" in the gadget's top right corner.
